The Beijing Sailing Centre had put a lot of effort into training local Chinese Sailing Instructors, but with a significant increased in demand, they really needed some additional support. In 2011 BSC contracted Blueprint Watersports to assist. We were then able to provide instructor training for local staff in their own language, as well as managing all of BSC’s UK staff recruitment. This helped them to grow into one of China’s leading watersports providers and to develop their own in-house instructors to a high standard and with a view to becoming future venue managers.
Vanhang Sailing are owned by Vanke, one of China’s largest international property development companies. Their aim was to gain international accreditation, develop a strong watersports workforce and to enthuse young people and encourage them into sailing. Since 2014 Blueprint Watersports has assisted Vanhang in establishing China’s first ever RYA Recognised Training Centre and in providing the first RYA Instructor Course. With our initial support they are now achieving their goals and even have a world youth championship sailing event being hosted at one of their six venues.
